I worked for six years with Dave in the Foreign Service, his cube was next to mine (2000-2006). I remember Dave for always wearing cowboy boots, even in a suit! Dave was a Marine and one year I had him as the guest speaker for the Marines Birthday celebration because he was the oldest Marine present. Lastly Dave was a professional who gave 100% at all times. I will miss you my brother,

Never got to ski with him (always hoped to) but enjoyed trading ski stories with him. I had the honor of meeting Dave as one of his many students and many years later as a working colleague. He was a solid instructor with a great delivery method on which I did my best to emulate. He has many students all over the world that will remember him fondly and miss him greatly. Semper Fidelis.

I very much enjoyed working with Dave as instructors for Honeywell / HFS I / Wang / API in the 90's. Dave was very good at what he did, and took great pride in doing a good job. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by many.

Here's something that John sent out by email several months ago to several people, and that Dave replied he would like to adopt for the next 20 years or so:
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the
intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well
preserved body -- but rather to skid in sideways,
chocolate in one hand, 12 year old single malt Scotch
in the other, body thoroughly used up and worn out
-- while screaming “Yahoo, what a ride!”

Dave truly adopted this little "ditty"! At a time of loss, it is important to remember not what you've loss, but what you've gained. We all gained from David friendship and attitude. We should honor him by extending to others that same, contagious smile, that same sense of joy on skis, and that same helpful, friendly and caring approach in our daily lives.

David has been a part of the Monaghan Family since as long as I can remember in beginning in Germany. We love him and will miss him everyday. It will be tough not see his contagious smile each weekend but we will always keep that memory in our hearts. Love you Dave!

When I go, I want to go your way Dave. I am sad for your loss to your friends and family, and joyed by your spirit found in your last tracks in the snow.
